Shri J.P. Nadda reviewed the comprehensive action plan for Simhastha-2028 and evaluated progress on major infrastructure and river-purification projects. He praised the city’s long-term, visionary development strategy and emphasized timely, high-quality execution.

Simhastha is not only one of the world’s largest spiritual gatherings but also a celebration of Ujjain’s cultural, mythological, and religious heritage. The 2028 edition aims to present Ujjain as a global center of Adhyatma while restoring the glory of ancient Avantika.

The plan focuses on strategic vision, quality-driven infrastructure, river purity, crowd management, heritage protection, sustainable urban development, and seamless pilgrim experience across the city.

He instructed officials to maintain strict quality control, follow sustainability guidelines, ensure timely completion, and uphold Ujjain’s cultural values while executing high-impact projects.

Dr. Yadav emphasized that all ritual bathing during Simhastha will take place exclusively in the pure waters of the Kshipra River, and multiple purification and diversion projects are being completed to maintain uninterrupted river cleanliness.

It is a ₹920 crore project that diverts polluted Kanh River water away from Ujjain using a 30.15 km closed-duct system. This ensures that the Kshipra remains fully clean during Simhastha and beyond.

The project lifts and stores monsoon water in Silarkhedi pond and releases it into the Kshipra during dry seasons. It preserves ecological balance and maintains spiritual sanctity for Simhastha bathing.

Five new barrages on the Kanh River and one on the Kshipra River are being built to regulate water levels, prevent contamination, and ensure stable flow during the festival.

A 29-km stretch from Shani Mandir to Nagda Bypass will be developed using durable basalt stone. This includes permanent ghats, stronger embankments, and improved access routes for millions of pilgrims.

Key projects include a ropeway from Ujjain Railway Station to Mahakaleshwar Temple, expansion of railway infrastructure, new helipads at Sadawal, and multiple upgraded approach roads to handle high-volume traffic.

The ₹199 crore ropeway will reduce congestion, shorten travel time, improve accessibility to Mahakaleshwar Temple, and enhance crowd movement during peak festival days.

New projects include a modern Collectorate building, Unity Mall, Mahakal Bhakt Niwas, an advanced Medicity, Vikram Udyogpuri expansion, IT Park enhancements, and six new bridges on the Kshipra.

Regular high-level meetings involving the Union Government, State Government, local bodies, public representatives, and senior officers ensure fast decision-making and unified project execution.

Environmental sustainability is central to Simhastha preparations—river purity, waste management systems, eco-friendly ghat construction, and green urban practices are being integrated across all projects.

With massive riverfront upgrades, modern transport systems, heritage restoration, and world-class urban planning, Ujjain is set to emerge as an international spiritual destination representing India’s ancient heritage and modern strength.
